Final Cut Pro X Corrupted Project

I have a corrupted Final Cut Pro 10.05 project on an external hard drive that will not allow me to open it. The peroblem occurred when I was attempting to duplicate the file. I have plent of space left on the hard drive (770 GB). Apple Care couldn't uhelp, and I have tried a number of other remedies (trashing preferences, detelting render files, reinstalling FCP, and a number of repair options from an app I downloaded form Digital Rebellion...all to no avail. I have spent five months on this project, and I am on my knees and at my wits end. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
