My MacBook Pro 13" i7 2012 model keeps sporadically freezing.

I can see the screen, but can't do anything, just hear a stuttering sound, for example if I'm listening to a song it repeats a tiny segment of the song non-stop.

When trying to use the webcam on Tinychat it also periodically froze and stuttered.

Only way to fix it is to restart the Mac.

I'm really disappointed as I've only just bought it and I thought Mac's were meant to be really good.

What can I do?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

You have 90 days of complimentary phone support from AppleCare...tale advantage of it. If within 14 days of purchase, you can return for a full refund, no questions asked. Your computer should work flawlessly.

    It's clearly a hardware fault.

An Apple genius will determine that. Like I said, your computer should work flawlessly. If within 14 days of purchase, return it...get your money back. Then purchase whatever you like.

mine is  exactly the same! however I think it's stopped.

I've already had one replaced and this does the same thing. I've narrowed it down to Google chrome I think .do you use that?

Yes, mine freezes on Chrome.  I thought mine stopped too, as I went 3 days with no problems... Then today, I took my sleeping MBP out of the case after work and it was very hot.  Some how, some way, it overheated while sleeping!  Crazy.  So then I get it up and going and sure enough an hour later it freezes.  This time it freezes and gives me a prompt that I must "shut down my computer".  I'm taking it back tomorrow.  I just don't get it.  Very disappointed.  I count on my MacBook for my job.

hahah.  that's exactly what i'm going to tell the genius people tomorrow.  if i wanted a piece of garbage i would go buy an hp.  i guess i will keep turning them in until i get a winner.  how much fun... especially since i have to transfer 400G of data from my old macbook every time!  keep me posted on your progress.

Apple werent much help to me, they could only replace the hard drive *if* that was the issue. I didn't buy it from them though, I bought it from myer.

I've already done an exchange and this is the same

So far so good this morning but really I am over MAC.. I can't use my google chrome anymore

I'm thinking of putting windows on it but then whats the purpose of getting one if it won't run properly, and my battery life will be heavily reduced.

I can't believe that they can't do something so simple. I plug my laptop into the tv using a HDMI (paying an expensive $49.95 for a converter), and I want the display to ONLY show on the TV...

    but no!

You have to set it to mirror the displays, you can't have the tv showing by itself. And since it has to show both displays, I get a crappy resolution that does not fit on my tv.

The only thing I like about macs is the build quality and the battery life.. if I put on windows i'm sacrificing the battery life....

Completely ridiculous.  My 2008 MacBook ran like a champ.  I did a lot of service on it, but it was "moving parts" failures that were bound to go at one point.  I replaced the hard drive and super drive a couple of times, but other than that, that machine ran top notch. AND on that machine you could close the lid and it would come up on an external screen.  These new machines are so inferior compared to the old, and honestly, not much faster, if any faster.  I am taking my second one back tomorrow.  If third time's not a charm, I am going to be highly disappointed.  Hopefully we can get this straightened out.  I bet we aren't the only ones in this situation!

Okay, I am now the (hopefully proud) owner of my 3rd MacBook from this line of computers.  Let's hope this one is a keeper.  I'm avoiding Chrome as you recommended.  Did Apple Care give you any details?

Thanks, and I hope your machine is still running well!

So after receiving my THIRD Macbook mid-12, it looks as if I may have found a winner.  No freezing issues (I've steered clear of Chrome).  I don't want to speak too soon, but the machine feels different overall.  The keyboard and everything just feels better.  Could be in my head... Also, when I used Migration Asst. to load my old MacBook contents onto the new, my first two newly purchased MacBooks took hours!  This one only took one hour flat.  Same content.  Strange!

Anyway, I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Hope things are getting straightened out for everyone!

Hey, have you noticed any freezing without chrome running? I have one or two times... There are also some updates out for the mid 2012 MBPs but I can't install them either once I installed mountain lion quite fast.
