Q: In OS X 10.7.4, can you use an Airport Express 802.11g to extend a network with an Airport Extreme 802.11n base station?

I am trying to update my network which uses an Airport Extreme 802.11n base station.  Before Lion, I used my Airport express 802.11g to extend that network.  I have downloaded Airport Utility 5.6 in order to manage my Airport Express, but it doesn't seem to be recognized.   Is is still possible to use this older Airport Express to extend a network using the newer Extreme?

Unfortunately, no if you are using the "extend a wireless network feature". The older Express does not have a setting for this, so it cannot be configured this way.

The Express could be configured to "join" the wireless network and then be used for AirTunes or connecting a remote printer, but it does not provide any additional wireless coverage in this type of setting.

However, if you are planning to connect the Express back to the AiriPort Extreme using a wired Ethernet connection, then it would be possible to configure the Express to provide more wireless coverage that way.
