I have just uploaded my videos from my canon camera into iphoto but when I try to play any of them I get OSStatus error -101.
I have managed to get them to play in VLC but itunes or Quicktime won't work.
Does anyone know what 101 error is please? I've never had a problem before with videos from the same camera.

I have managed to open the videos in an old Quicktime 7 app but I can not turn on the audio in either VLC or QT 7. A circle with a line through it shows up when I turn the audio on my macbook.
I am running Mountain Lion and wondering if this is anything to do with the recent changes to airplay etc.
Same thing Error (-101) Quicktime and no sound with all the progrmas.

if you go into terminal and type "macerror 101" it comes back as a memory parity error. from what i have read in research, your memory could be at fault. check this website to find out about memory tests. http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM
it could also be issues elsewhere, but memory seems to be the more obvious one.
Since I've upgraded to mountain lion I'll get the "OSStatus error -101." on any video file when opening it with QuickTime player. Could it be related to a 3ivx codec for QuickTime that was disabled by installing Mountain Lion?
It's a possibility. I haven't been able to view all my videos yet but it has happened to another person I know.
sorry - after a simple restart the "OSStatus error -101" has gone. QT and audio are working perfectly again...
Since the update to 10.7.5 - I had an OSStatus error -101 on all my video's playing in iPhoto 9.4 ?!?
When I openend this video in Quicktime 10.4, it was running ok ...
My audio runs through USB with an Lexicon I-Onix device.
When I disconnect the USB cable, it all runs fine!
So I have to wait for an driver update ...
Just had that error for the first time, trying to view a video in iPhoto. At the time I was running audio through an audio interface and speakers (AKAI Professional). Turned them off and I could run the video and audio with no problem through the iMac! Dont konw what it means 😕 but hope this helps?
My Tascam US-122MK II was being used with Cubase as an audio interface. After disconnecting the USB cable, the iPhoto app would play movies again. This must be similar to the problem that Pete MacOSX and Gooner1970 had. That was a "head scratcher"....I am glad it is fixed.
