RD is running on server, can't access it remotely?

I left my Remote Desktop admin running on my server in the office. I'd like to control the server with RD admin on my Powerbook at home however it why I try I get the error message:

Could not control "Server"
Apple Remote Dektop or another administration application is currently running.

The office is empty, is there anyway to remotely quit the server's copy of Remote Desktop?

send the unix command
ps -agx

make sure the display all output box is checked. When the output comes back look for somthing like

401 ?? S 0:38.32 /Applications/Remote Desktop.app/Contents/MacOS/Rem

Then send the kill command

kill 401

Replace the number from the line above. With the number from the output. After that control the server and launch Remote Desktop. Then make sure you set the preference to allow control when Remote Desktop is running.

I'm having this issue too.

I have a portforward to a fixed ip [internal] OSX server which runs the Remote Desktop admin software which I need to admin the LAN which i connect to from outside by using laptop form a variety of places and newtorks.
[Which is why I dont use a vpn to connect]

It's ok if - I connect to the server - then start up the Remote Admin - use it - and then remember to QUIT the admin ARD software running on the server before disconnecting ARD remotely.

If the Admin software is left running when you disconnect you cannot connect again to the server.

This seems like a major bug to me...

And very limiting if you have several people who need to connect remotely to admin the server and LAN for any reason.
