According to this information an imac would have to use more than just an adapter (ie voltage transformer) right?

Jun 26, 2012 8:46 PM in response to e.d.oby Limnos,The document says all Intel iMacs are auto switching, so all you need is an adapter plug to fit the socket in the country where you are using it. Although it appears Apple sells these, you can get them in just about any place that sells travel accessories.

I did read the information.
My imac has auto-switching, but when I check the link to the international power adapter kit there is a list of devices and imac is not on it. That is why I assume it would need to have a transformer in order to work under 220v. I assume that the devices without auto-switching would not be able to work even with a transformer...

Jun 27, 2012 4:19 AM in response to e.d.oby noondaywitch,It does not need a transformer. The transformer is built in to the iMac. It accepts 100-240v AC, 50-60Hz input (which covers most of the world).
All you need is an adapter to fit your US power lead's plug to whatever outlet socket type is used at your destination. That is just an inert, pass-through pin adapter. No transformer.
