Just right click on your phone/device and select "Transfer Purchases". It will then copy from your device to your iTunes. Hope that helps.

Tranfer Purchases did not affect the podcasts in my iTunes, nor the Podcast App

  • Jazziedoodle Level 1 Level 1

    Have you synced your podcasts?

  • Fryguy451 Level 1 Level 1

See, that is the problem I'm speaking of. The new Podcast App does not sync with iTunes.

  • Jazziedoodle Level 1 Level 1

Once you plug in your iPhone, you have to allow it to sync. Go to the podcast tab and  check "sync podcasts". Then, when you have that checked, you can go to your device, right click, and select "transfer purchases". That SHOULD solve the problem. And now, whenever you syncs with iTunes it will do so automatically. Now, if you are wanting it to sync via iCloud, I don't think they've implemented that yet.

Oddly enough, "sync podcasts" is checked and I have selected "transfer purchases" and while the Music app sync podcasts perfectly, the Podcast app does not.

Same issue. I want to download podcasts on my iPad and have them appear on my iPod.

Can't figure out how to do it. And no, I do NOT want all my iPad apps to be synced as well, just the podcasts. Is that possible?

    Hi

have a look to that thread. The answer of user lussid solved my proble syncing my iTunes Podcast on my iPhone an iPad.

    "...

I just figured this out. I had to go into iTunes on my Mac and tell it to sync all podcasts instead of all new podcasts.  I hit sync and they started transfering back to my iPhone.  I opened the Podcasts app and I can see them and play them.

Please Apple fix this problem and add playlist support.  So many of use them to listen to podcasts.  I listen in my car and put all the podcasts i want to listen to in one so i can simply click on ahead.  Having to open it up and manually search is dangerous while driving.

    Please fix.

Yep same problem; no fixes work.

I subscribed to 24 podcasts and they will not show on the new 'podcasts' app and they are now gone from the 'music' app.

    New information:

    - Itunes copies over the podcasts to my iphone, but they do not show anywhere (if you watch the progress bar you can see them being copied over, but no apps on the phone can see or access them).

    Tested and failed:

    - sync podcasts

    - sync selected podcasts

    - sync new episodes

    - sync all episodes

    - create a playlist; add podcasts to playlist; on the podcasts tab select 'include podcasts from playlists'

What does work (and is crappy):

1 create a playlist folder called podcasts

2 add individual playlists for each podcast

3 drag and drop episodes from each podcast into the corresponding playlist

4 select every podcast on your playlist (ctrl+a)

5 right click and select 'get info'

    6 select the 'info' tab

7 change 'genre' from 'podcast' to 'audiobook'

    8 select the 'options' tab

9 change 'media kind' from 'podcast' to 'audiobook'

    10 click 'ok'

    11 connect your device

12 go to the devices' 'books' tab

13 scroll down and select 'sync audiobooks'

14 scroll down further and select 'include audiobooks from playlists'

    15 select 'sync'

Way to go Apple. What a screw up; removing key functionality and usability.

    Get it sorted out.

I think the traditional syncing method is going away with I could automatically remembering playback position, etc.

It's a pain now though because Apple TV gets its content from iTunes not from the podcasts app so iTunes is still at the centre of it all.

Interested to see what iTunes 11 brings to this problem.

  • c6russoedu Level 1 Level 1

Yep!!! Changing to "sync all podcasts" solved!

Installing the app as forced, then deleting the app, then turning your phone off then back on seems to restore original functionality.

This is what finally worked for me.  Thank you, Rick.  I'm back to the original style.

Found a solution that works for me:

In itunes, delete the podcasts app.

Sync and let it delete the app from your phone.

Back in itunes, re-install the podcasts app from the store.

Sync to iphone and... shazam; missing podcasts now are visible.

Hope this works for you too.
