SSD for macboock pro early 2008

hi everybody

i have a macbook pro early 2008 and i would like to change my HDD for a SSD, because i found out that the HDD is the reason my macbook is sooooooo slow.

so, i'm reading a lot about this here and in other communities like mac rumor etc..

but the more i know about the SSD the more a get confused and don't know what i really need.

i now know that i need a intel 320 series SSD the size doesnt matter at the moment.

i need to know if my macbook could handle the intel ssd or maybe i need another one?

does my mac regognize the ssd straight after installing it? or do i have to something in terminal perhaps?

can i install it myself? maybe using iFixed mobile app?

i'm sure if somebody answered me i have more question 🙂

please help

thanks

Swaping an internal HDD for SSD can be done by the user. There have been a lot of discussions of this the past few weeks so if you haven't searched on here, that may help. Also, check the offereings of suppliers who are Mac specialists such as OWC as the drives they have will be guaranteed compatible...they also have on-line videos of how to do the install.

The Intel should work just fine. IMHO better then any other brand.

But has your Mac ever had the logic board replaced because of this problem?

If not then you may consider taking it in for a full checkup before you spend any money on it.

Normally your Mac should not run SLOOOOOOW. If it is running slower then ever before then it is not just the hard drive that is causing the slowness. There is something else that is causing the slowness. Could be software or hardware (could even be a failing hard drive). In the case of a failing HDD just replacing it with a new one would solve this slowness without going with the expense of a SSD.
