Retina MBP and battery drain?

I have a new retina MBP and have been experiencing what I think is sub par battery life.

In addition to the battery not lasting as long as I believe it should (based on Laptop mag battery drain tests), last night I closed the lid at 5:00 p.m. and did not open it until 8:00 a.m. this morning. The battery had drained 11% over night. I have a MBA (2012) and if I were to do this with it, the battery would not drain AT ALL.

Any suggestions on how to have the battery checked?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Since this is a brand new unit take it back for a refund and get another. No sense trying to figure it out as this should not happen and needs to be returned.

Yeah that sounds pretty bad, in just a few days your battery would be empty without using the laptop.

I've got an appointment with the Genius bar in about a half hour so I'm going to see what they have to say about it. Otherwise, I may ask for a replacement.

They ran a battery check and everything looked good. They reset the power management in case that was causing the issue.

I'm going to run another test tonight. I just charged it to 100% and set the brightness to 40% and closed the lid to put it to sleep. I'll wake it tomorrow morning and see how much it drains. If it drains anywhere near 10% it's going back.

uncheck the automatic brightness. that too use contributes to poor battery life.

I usually do that or simply adjust my brightness to 40% or so whenever I'm on battery power. Shouldn't affect the battery drain issue when asleep.
