Use yahoo app for iphone or add another email account as type Other and google the settings for yahoo pop access. Worked for me, not ideal but you at least see your email.

  • Incoming mail server settings:
    • POP server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    • Use SSL
    • Port: 995
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings:
    • SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    • Use SSL
    • Port: 465
    • Use authentication
  • Email address: Your Yahoo! Mail email address (for example, jo.bloggs@yahoo.com)
  • Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
  • Account name/sign-in name: Your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com" at the end; for example, "jo.bloggs")

Don't forget to go into smtp setting and add the username and password there if you want to send mail After yahoo gets the imap issue fixed, just disable this account in iphone settings to use as a backup in case yahoo imap goes down again.

Mine is still down (since yesterday morning), as is my wife's. Some people I know w/iphone+yahoo mail are unaffected.

Here's some background info and a response from Yahoo acknowledging some sort of problem on their end...

I've used my paid yahoo mail account inside the native iphone mail app (via the mail account settings) for a very long time and have not changed my password. Yesterday morning (June 27th), and continuing, I can't get yahoo mail to work from the native iphone mail app, complains about a password being wrong, or about the server rejecting my password (apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com on port 993), but my mail does work from a web browser when I log in using the same info as what is on my phone's settings (frustrating!).

Here's the response I got from yahoo customer care (they acknowledge a problem but haven't fixed it yet)...

Similar and other problems. iOS insists on creting multiple instances of my yahoo accounts so that when I recieve one mail I get 2 or 3. But today again one of my yahoo accounts has started, for the nth time to forget the password. Odd that one account is fine and the other not. Odd that iOS requires multiple copies of yahoo accounts. Odd that these issues just fail to get resolved. Wonder if this is connected with the unreasonable shut down for mail on OSX? Checking the activity window suggests it might have.

For more of a gripe, the second yahoo account was only created because of the whole AppleID-Facetime ****.

No reasonable solutions to this issue so far and frankly, why are we having to do all the leg work? Are Apple products supposed to "just work"?
