Q: If I buy an ipad3 with 3g while in the USA can I easily transfer to orange when I get home? I'm a novice at this

Can anyone advise me regarding the ipad3. If I upgrade to the ipad3 with 3G while in the states can I easily transfer to orange or another uk network when I return home?

    Yes, don't buy the Verizon version as that hooks up to the wrong set of network frequencies...

    Yes and many have reported on this forum that it works fine, iPads are not locked to a carrier

    but do buy from an Apple Retail store 

    However if the iPad is above your personal import  allowance there is a 20% vat charge

    and possibly an import tax

    In USA  all States (almost) charge sales tax.This is not ever shown up front since

    most States have differing rates but most of the normal tourist States do and can be up

    to10% and is added at till

    Not sure the savings are that great taking the above into account

    Good point, plus after sales support will probably be easier in the UK if you bought it here.
