Jun 29, 2012 6:41 PM in response to dalstottby Igor_G5,Thanks so much but I found the first one. Decided I was just being lazy and looked it up myself. The main post I'm not being lazy. I'm stumped. I bought this thing cheap with the understanding that it occasionally wouldn't boot. I figured that when it was up I could troubleshoot it. But I can't get it to boot at all. I'm in a nursing home paralyzed from the waist down with no income. So I got it cheap and figured I could have a Mac again.
There's got to be something in that single tone instead of the startup tone and the way it flashes. Ten seconds on then two flashes then ten seconds on .....

Jun 29, 2012 6:55 PM in response to Igor_G5by dalstott,Some things to consider. I hope something here will help. It could be a Hard drive or even a logic board but can't tell over the net.

Jul 1, 2012 6:11 PM in response to dalstottby Igor_G5,From this stuff it looks like it's probably the RAM and I can't afford new RAM so I think I have to give up on this for now.

What OS are you running? Are you trying to boot on battery power or while using the power adapter?
Try booting with just the power adapter (battery removed).
Cheers, Tom

Jul 5, 2012 9:27 PM in response to Texas Mac Manby Igor_G5,I don't know how I could describe the beep better. I even gave the approximate pitch of the beep. It's a short beep the pitch of which appears to be approximately an A#.
I'm running 10.5.8.
I have tried with and without the adaptor.
I'll have to try without the battery.
Thanks,
Jon
