I don't know what to do because I need wifi to use most of my apps but it doesn't work unless I am right next to the adapter... Please help me! I don't know what else to do!

You probably damaged the iPod, but try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

If that doesn't help, then you'll need to take or send your iPod to Apple and pay their out-of-warranty replacement price.

So, did you solve the problem?
The OP posted more than a year ago and hasn't been back since, so probably she won't answer. The only solution was probably to pay for a replacement.
