This basically "reboots" the iPod. The iPod is NOT erased.
NOTE: If you "stopped" some procedure iTunes was doing to the iPod by "yanking the cord," the iPod's hard drive may have become corrupted. If that is the case, you may need to do a Restore. A Restore will erase the iPod, re-install the latest version of software, and reset it to default ("factory") settings.
