Q: Audio doesn't play thru external monitor

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (4 yrs old) to an external monitor via HDMI.

I am mirroring the display and video works fine.

Sound won't play thru thru the TV, only thru the laptop speakers.

I can't seem to figure out how to fix it.
