Country music instruments in Logic Pro and Garage band library

Garage band and Logic Pro have a bunch of country music instruments in their loops but I can't find them in their library. Such instruments as the mandolin, harmonica, fiddle, and steel pedal. Any ideas on how I can get these in my library since clearly the software has these sounds?

You need to understand the media you're dealing with.

Loops are actual recordings of real instruments being played.

Instruments are recorded sounds of the instrument's notes that are arranged in the EXS24 sampler or Garageband equivalent. Or... the sounds are produced by Logic's software based synthesizers.

Two distinct formats, there is no guarantee that an instrument found in a loop will be present in Logic's instruments and if the instrument is there (say: fiddle), it's not the same instrument, it will not play or sound like the instrument in the loop.

You might want to read the manual sections pertaining to software instruments and Loops.

The will be many that look down on this idea but there were some very good soundfonts produced for different instruments. The EXS24, Logics sampler instrument can convert Soundfonts for it's own use.

This was on eBay.

hard to go wrong at that price, even if you only got a couple of usable instruments.

I do hope not...in fact, I spent a good three quarters of an hour looking at some stuff on a couple of websites (that I hadn't seen before) this afternoon - Bolder Sounds, for one - which gave me a free EXS instrument of a psaltery - its a very interesting sound because the samples have captured the character of the instrument in a way and I'm just thinking about an acoustic guitar recording/Garageband Celtic Harp/NI North India sitar combination , so its a generally 'acoustic' sounding project - so sometimes you have to look for stuff and try it out.

Sorry, I was forgetting that you had a question - there's a lot of stuff there in the loops, so try using the search function at the top right hand corner, if you want loops.

If you're looking for instruments, it might be easier to scroll down to 'Garageband Instruments' when you hold the top button of the I/O section near the bottom of the channel strip and find it, he he...

There's a lot of stuff there, really, so you can always try and make it sound better using other tools that are there in Logic. Sometimes you can't make it match up to exactly to what you had in mind and sometimes you find something better, so there is an indeterminate element involved ?

Agreed.... reality is not pristine.

Long ago I purchased (from Creative) the PROteus sound ROM's in Soundfont format. They're quite good actually. I have a large selection of oddball soundfonts that truly provide some remarkable patches.
