Why not?  What happens when you try to sync it?  Does iTunes see your iPod?  Are you getting any error messages from iTunes or from the Windows OS?

Need more detail as to what is happening.

Yes I do get a message that says I need 10.7 and I did download that, it does pop up on my desktop but no music will sync.

Download the latest version of iTunes.  Open iTunes and connect the nano to your PC or Mac, click on the iPod box at the top right of the iTunes screen (next to iTunes Store). It should take you to the Summary page and you should see a picuture of the iPod Nano. Click on "Music" next to the Summary tab.  Click the box "Sync Music".  Your music should start syncing right away.

I've done everything you said but nothing happens. I've tried dragging individual music to it, but nothing happens.

We sadly don't have a solution, but we are experiencing the same problems too.  We've followed the troubleshooting tips with no joy.

Wish a tech expert from Apple could offer some tips if its a common problem - which it seems to be.

The podcasts I chose show up in the lists, they are downloaded but will not sync with the ipod device.  I've been notified that my software is up to date.

I need those podcasts to help me sleep!  Any ideas?

This problem s**ks, and I demand an answer directly from a paid employee of Apple assigned to fixing--and I mean fixing--this problem. I do NOT want to hear from anyone else, unless they are quoting the actual words of a paid Apple employee assigned to fixing this project.

My Nano (the square one) is only a year old, and I have noticed that Apple has already replaced it with a larger rectangular) version. Has Apple already modified its software and support so the square Nano is already a relic?

Well, I'm not a paid you may not want to hear from me.  However, I just fixed my ipod nano problem on my own and figured I'd share as I have just spent the last 4 hours trying to trouble shoot all of Apple's problems...following everyone's tips...nothing worked until I figured it out on my own.

I'm running windows 7 and have an Ipod Nano (6th Gen).  Hard drive crashed on computer.  Replaced HD.  Everything works fine now.  Downloaded iTunes along with all other programs.  Nano wouldn't show up or sync on iTunes.  Said Device Driver Software was not successfully installed (some USB problems).  Tried everything.  Finally, I figured it out.

Disconnect Nano.  Uninstall iTunes AS WELL AS Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update.  Apple only tells you to uninstall iTunes and reinstall..restart computer bla bla bla.  I said screw it and uninstalled all Apple programs (well, the listed ones above).  I hooked up my nano to my computer to make sure the device manager recognized it without anything else plugged in...and it did.  I unplugged it.  Reinstall iTunes and all three other Apple programs listed above will also reinstall.  I opened iTunes and plugged in my nano.  It started with the "installing device driver software" and I was sure it wasn't going to work.  Well, it did work.  My nano showed up in the upper right bar of iTunes and synced.  Unreal...  I unplugged my nano and plugged in the wife's.  Once again, "installing device driver software."  Voila!  Her's showed up and synced too.  I plugged mine back it to make sure it worked and it did.  I'm done.  It's working.  Hope these steps work for you as well.

What if you cannot uninstall the iTunes.  I tried and it stated that the iTunes is required by the Mac OS
