I installed a droploet into Finder, now I can't get rid of it. Scoured the internet and no one says how to remove them, only add them. What's the method for getting rid of them?

Command drag out of the tool bar is sufficient. It should go "poof".
The question mark appeared because it was pointing to the actual application. When you trashed the app there was nothing to point to. Hence the quesion mark. Same thing can happen with dock items as well.

If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, that app can’t be uninstalled.
If you change your mind, before emptying the Trash, select the app in the Trash, and then choose File > Put Back.
Whak kind of "droplet"? Do you know it's name? Search for it. Even the finder's find command (command-F, kind filename) should be able to do that if spotlight can't (yes, I know the finder find is really spotlight).
It does't hurt anything but in this case it won't fix anything either. I assume it's only an simple applescript application, a trivial thing to uninstall if I knoew more details than "it's a finder droplet".

"?" where? In the dock? Just drag the icon out of the dock? In a finder window toolbar? Command drag that out of the toolbar.
I had a simple application which I dragged to the Mountain Lion finder toolbar and it acted as a Finder droplet. I could not then get rid of it - it would not drag off the toolbar.
Final answer was easy if a little unintuitive (to me).
a) customise the Finder toolbar (choose from Finder toolbar's context menu)
- but there's no sign of the droplet in the list of selectable Finder toolbar icons.
b) Now drag the droplet itself off the toolbar and 'poof' - it's gone.
Of course command-drag is even easier - if I'd read to the end of the comments here before answering. <sigh>

I've removed the Applescript it was pointing to and now I have a ? in it's place in Finder.
I did and still didn't find anything relevant.

Do I need to restart my machine to make the changes take effect?
The Applescript was to recursively remove .svn folders from a directory. It didn't work, that's why I want to remove it. I'll try a restart and see if that fixes it.
No you don't have to reboot. You don't have to use any so called uninstaller.
How was this installed?
My first guess is look in ~/Library/Workflows.
I have never heard that a re-start hurt anything!
I was writing that about the same time you were posting that it would not do a thing- not that i was rebuffing you!
I just drug it to the finder toolbar area.
Workflows has only 'add .workflow' in the 'Folder Actions' folder and that all.
