What is the difference between OS X Lion 10.7.4 Client and OS X Lion 10.7.4 Client combo?

The Combo is for update a lot of Macs and for Macs with OS X 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 (in this example). The Delta is for one Mac with the most recent OS X version

Significantly, by applying the Combo Update, which I have always done and always advise others to do, you are basically updating the original system from the ground up, for want of a simple explaination, whereas the Client Update that usually surfaces in Software Updates on your computer, is more like a 'top up' update and after a few of these updates, your computer may slow down a little and not be as responsive. For the extra few megabytes, always download and install the Combo Update from the Apple Support Downloads site.

The Combo contains All the changes from 10.7.0 to 10.7.4

The other only those changes from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4

The difference is that the 'OS X Lion 10.7.4 Client Combo' is used to update from a version that is more than one version below 10.7.4 and the 'OS X Lion 10.7.4 Client' is used to update from a version that is exactly one version below -- i.e. if you are on 10.7.2 or below, you should use the 'OS X Lion 10.7.4 Client Combo' but if you are on 10.7.3, you should use the 'OS X Lion 10.7.4 Client'. However, the easiest way to update to 10.7.4 is by using software update which can be run by doing this:

To get updates immediately, follow these steps:

1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu.
2. Choose Software Update from the View menu.
3. Click Update Now.
4. Select the items you want to install, then click Install.
5. Enter an Admin user name and password.
6. After the update is complete, restart the computer if necessary.

Probably not the greatest recommendation with the problems associated with the last two client updates, 10.7.3 actually being withdrawn from Software Update and replaced with Combo. Combo is always the preferred option.
