How to store passwords and set my starting page?

Dear all,

Two questions with regards to Safari:

1. Somehow Safari doesn't seem to store any of my passwords anymore since I've been using a new Macbook Air. I also can't find where I could change a setting related to this.

2. Currently Safari always loads the page that was last open as my starting page. I would like this to be a blank page but can't seem to find where this can be set.
