My mac is full! I've been trying to delete files but no space is freeing up. I also tried transfering files to my external but still no free space. Checking my drive says I have 114.7 gb in a sparse disk file? what is it and how may I open up some room? Help would be greatly appreciated as I cant even download my paystub from work at the moment lol.

Have you emptied trash after deleting those files? Do you use filevault?
yes i have emptied my trash and im not sure about file vault? i would love to download OmniDiskSweeper but i have zero space available 😟
Soooooo i found that filevault legacy is on, but i dont have enough free space avilable to turn it off, how can i make enough room to turn it off?
I am by no means a filevault expert. You might wish to specifically post the filevault issue in Lion forum if that is indeed what you are using (you posted this in the Leopard 10.5 forum). I think the answer may involve you having to buy an external hard drive to which you can expend the contents of the filevault, but that's just casual reading on my part.
What size is your hard disk?
Can you use disk Utility to get information about its size and how much is used?
Deleting items inside a sparse disk image will not reduce its size.
