I have been using my Apple TV for over a year with no problem. I haven't used it in the last month, and tonight when I wanted to rent a movie, I turned on my Samsung TV, went to the "source" menu to change the setting to HDMI4, but it didn't show up. I checked all the connections and nothing has changed. I don't understand why HDMI4 isn't even showing up on the menu?

Have you tried connecting your Apple TV to one of the other HDMI inputs and seeing if it will work.
Only one HDMI input on this model, so there is no other way to hook it up. Thing is, it has been working just fine for a year. Nothing was changed, just that HDMI4 has disappeared from my source menu.
That's difficult to diagnose, some TV's will remove options from a menu if there is (or it thinks there is) nothing connected to it, so without knowing how your TV works, it doesn't eliminate the TV or the Apple TV. Are you able to try the Apple TV with another TV.
