Having Problems with Avid DV25 Quicktime Playback...Still

To anyone who can help --

I must be missing something big. I know there have been a few posts about this in the past.

I exported a project to a Fast-Export Quicktime NTSC file from Avid Xpress. It played fine on that computer's version of Quicktime.

I brought it home to play on my computer's version and got white playback.

I then went and found the appropriate Quicktime Codec components (AvidAVDJCodec, AvidAVUICodec, and AvidDV25Codec). Put them all in my Library/Quicktime folder. Even restarted my computer.

I'm still seeing white. The footage is MOS, so sound isn't an issue. Quicktime still prompts me to download another plug-in. This is rather frustrating...since it's playing ok on quicktime using the Avid Mac, I can only assume it's something with my powerbook's quicktime codecs (i.e. I'm missing one?).

I have Quicktime Pro 7, updated.

If anyone could give me any leads, I'd really really appreciate it.

Thanks,
j.

PS: The information on the .mov file is "Integer (Big Endian), Avid DV25 4:1:1 NTSC 601"

Alum 17" Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Hmm, open the file in HexEdit and look for the fourcc...

The AvidDV25Codec.component has this decompressor:
imdc:AVdv:AVID "AVID DV Codec"

So, if the fourcc in your file is slightly different (for instance if it is AVDV), try changing it to AVdv

HexEdit is free, here:
http://www.ifd.com/productinfo.php/productsid/87

It can't save files with names longer than 31 characters and it automatically creates a backup of the original file by default when you save a file.
