ipad dont turn on/off does nothing

I lost yesterday's info on how to restore my iPad, it didn't turn on/off and the little circle was just going on and on, finally I turned off but need to restore it since my kid lost his info on the iPad

If it will not restore that way, try recovery mode.

Have you tried a simple Reset? [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!
