With my Blackberry I was able to access the internet via Sprint's network or Wi-Fi. Am I only able to access the Net via Wi-Fi on my iphone? I'm still with Sprint.

i would talk to your carrier about that issue... if it was a wifi issue then i would understand to contact apple.

Contact Sprint. Sounds like they don't have the data portion of your account provisioned correctly.
