Q: appleswork 6 doc fails to convert to pdf?

I need to save a word processing file as pdf so I can send it out to a group of mine. I have been the "keeper of the information"; now at a stale-mate. This one shows it is saving but it is missing when I look for or search for it in the finder.  How can I correct this?  Do I need to do something to preferences?  The file has had many revisions in the last 2-3 years.  I had a print problem about a year ago w/same file and once I deleted the page causing the problem; all good.  Have not found the same solution this time.  Frustrated.

    Hi Mercedes,

    Can you print the document?

Have you tried the "Mail PDF" item in the PDF button in the Print dialogue? What result does that give you?

    Regards,

    Barry

I can print the cwk.  I use the PDF from the print dialogue and it looks like it saved, but it is not where I saved it to; or anywhere when I search for it.  I definitely make sure where it is be and the name; but just will not save.  I can save other documents but not this one (of course) important doc.  As stated; it has been revised many times in the last couple of years.  Could it be something w/preferences??

    Thanks for the suggestions,

    Mercedes

What type of AW document is it?

    Re: Preference issues:

It's possible that a corrupted prefs file is involved, and deleting the preferences is a standard 'first aid' troubleshooting step.

AppleWorks keeps a set of preferences files for each User account. You'll find yours here:

    Users > yourname > Library > Preferences...

    In the Preferences file:

Locate and delete the file; com.apple.appleworks.plist

Locate and open the folder AppleWorks. In the folder AppleWorks:

Select and delete both 'cache' files.

Select and delete the file "AppleWorks 6 Preferences."

AppleWorks 6 Button Bars is also a preferences file. If ou have no issues that appear to be connected with  the Button Bar, it should be safe to leave this file as is. Otherwise delete it as well.

AppleWorks will make new, clean copies of these files as needed,
