I recently upgraded to Lion on all my computers and I just noticed that my 1st gen Airport Express no longer work and are not recognized by the Airport Utility. Is there something I need to do to configure these to work with my WiFi network?
You need to download, install and use AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
It will work on all of your devices.
Keep both AirPort Utility 5.6 and 6.x on your Mac and use the one that you need. No real reason to use 6.x, but it does have a nice graphic.

Your OP states that you're using Lion -- but your second post indicates that you're using Mountain Lion.
I think that Mountain Lion needs Airport Utility 6.
