Q: How can I change original owners name to mine in macbook?

I recently bought a used Macbook from a returning soldier. I have tried to remove his name as it is on the macbook, but it won't go away. Help!

Here are the instructions from Apple on changing user short name or home directory name. I've used this on a couple of used MacBooks I've bought on eBay. And remember to go into System Preferences>Sharing and change the Computer Name in there.

As an added thought: if I purchased a used machine, I would wipe it and reinstall from scratch to make sure any previous information is deleted properly. Do you have the install disk?
