How to convert audio files with caf extension to wav

For command line nerds, batch converting whole nested directory of .caf files to .wav can be easily accomplished with ffmpeg and zsh shell by running:

for f in **/*.caf; do; ffmpeg -i $f ${f%.*}.wav; done && rm **/*.caf

I use this CAF Converter to convert CAF to WAV. If you just want to convert CAF to MP3, you can use the free caf to mp3 online converter to convert CAF to MP3.

I can open caf files in Quick Time 7 for Windows so I upgraded to Quicktime pro to "Save As"

The options it gives are "Sound To WAV", "Sound to AU (Adobe Audition)" and "Sound To AIF"

I don't know if there can work in iTunes or not. Usually i had large amount of albums of caf files, and tried an apps to convert caf to mp3 so that i can listen to them in my iPod, it is an simple step that you can do it easily.

I use a software called iDealshare VideoGo which can batch convert CAF files to WAV, MP3, AIFF, Apple Lossless, AAC, WMAand etc.

It even supports directly drag the folder where the CAF files to the main window of this software.

More exciting, it can edit CAF files like increase audio volume, change audio channel and etc.

And it has both Mac version and Windows version.

It also helps convert CAF to other popular audio formats like MP3, AAC, AC3, FLAC, M4A, AIFF, DTS, WMA, AU, MP2, etc.

The simplest method is to open a .caf file in Quick Time Pro and click export the audio only option from File menu.

Then the quick time will export the .caf audio in .m4a audio on the fly. Then you can convert to wav file using vlc media player.
