Q: Can you use 2, 2gigs in to slots and 2, 4 gigs in the other 2 slots on the I mac

Can you use 2, 2gigs in to slots and 2, 4 gigs in the other 2 slots on the I mac to equal 12 gigs or do you have to use either 2 gis in all the slots or four gis in all the slots?

    Depends on iMac, but as long as they're matched Pairs you'll be OK!

     

    So we know more about it...

     

    At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware> and report this upto but not including the Serial#...

    That is what i did with my new imac that I got on the 13th. I added two 4 gigs, so it is a 12 gig machine.
