Can I turn off file sharing on iPhone and iPad?

Got an iPad for work recently to store all of my secure PDF documents on. These PDF's contain lots of sensitive and high security information.

The other day I was messing around with it and discovered that the iPad could be plugged into any computer with iTunes and all of my files could be downloaded using the file sharing part of the program. I have searched and searched and searched, but cannot find any way to disable file sharing on my iPad at all.

So I have 2 questions. First of all, can I disable file sharing on my iPad? And Secondly, if I can't disable it, does anyone know an app that I can use to manage folders of PDF files that doesn't use file sharing?

Any help is appreciated!

Which program includes such a file sharing option?

Do you making use of the iPad's Passcode Lock feature especially with having such sensitive and high security info included with these PDF files?

Using the Passcode Lock prevents the iPad from being synced with iTunes on any other computer and from transferring data from or to the iPad with iTunes on any other computer other than the computer used for syncing your iPad.

I am using FileApp Pro at the moment. And yes, I am using the passcode lock.

If the device is in a standby mode and locked, I can plug it in to any computer and if iTunes is opened, I can access all of my files through this file sharing option in the apps tab under my device.

With my Android phone, it won't even conenct to the computer unless the passcode is entered first.
