You should definitely contact Apple. This is not normal.
You can either return or exchange an Apple product within 14 days of the purchase.
You have 90 days of free tech support from Apple from the date of purchase.
You can try Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
