I backed up my iPad, music, books, videos etc. so I could install the new OS, after which my stuff disappeared ! Anyone know how I can get my purchased stuff back ?

You can always re-download your purchased movies from iTunes Store, particularly if you're in the US iTunes Store. (My Finnish one doesn't have a Purchased section; the US one does.)
Hi, thanks for the reply but when I go to my account on iTunes it does have a purchased option, but this is empty. Why doesn't iTunes remember what I have purchased ? If I search for the same movies I bought before whilst logged in it only gives me the option to purchase again. Not good. Thanks for the suggestion anyway,
1. Are you sure you're logged in the same account as your purchase one?
2. If you do, this MIGHT be a problem also plaguing the AppStore: sometimes it just doesn't list the apps I've purchased under the "Purchased" tab. (Of course, when I re-purchase them, it lets me download it again for free.) This very frequently happens on my both (Finnish and US) accounts.
Hopefully Apple fixes these really annoying problems some day.
