Have MacBook Pro Intel Core i7. Can't download photos from Samsung phone to iPhoto. Any solution?

Am unable to view photos in iPhoto taken by a Samsung smart phone. Any olution or work around? My operating system is version 5.1.7

MacBook Pro, iOS 5.1.1
