Q: 3rd generation iPod Nano won't turn on even though it is fully charged

My 3rd generation iPod Nano will not turn on. It is fully charged and I tried jiggling the hold/sleep button as suggested on apple website. I can get it to work when connected to computer, but not when disconnected.
