Hi, I just had the same problem and seemed to find something.
Hope you still need it.
If you want to cut and paste, you copy the file the same way (with command+c), then use command+option+v to paste instead. This way, the orginal file is gone.

Drag them. Apple disabled the Cut option for files because of the risk of accidental data loss.

So, the process will be
Copy->Paste and then DELETE....
Thats extra work......
So there is no way to cut and paste like all the other users are claiming then?
You can copy and paste; just not cut.
