Q: iPod shuffle not recognised

I just installed the latest updates from Apple, not my shuffle isn't recognised, have iMac running os 10.6.8

    I assume this shuffle worked with this Mac before...  Make sure you have shut down (powered off) your Mac since noticing this problem, and you did this procedure to reset the shuffle

    If the shuffle is connected through a USB hub, try connecting it directly to the Mac's USB port.  If there are other USB devices connected, try disconnecting everything except for standard mouse and keyboard, and connecting the shuffle to a direct USB port.

     

    If that does not help, run System Profiler (you can select About This Mac from the Apple menu and click More Info).  When the shuffle is connected (with iTunes NOT running), does it appear listed under Hardware/USB?

     

    Also, what shuffle model ("generation") is it?  (The reset document linked above shows the four models.)
