tried everything the website adviced me to do called and do there reset option and still my battery wont even last for more than 3 hours. i am getting frustrated i just got this mac book pro las week not even a week old

I have a late 2011 MBP and I get 7+ hours on my machine. It's likely that you're just trying to do too much under battery power. Go to Energy Saver and set your machine so that it's optimized for battery power. Use the scren brightness set to about 4 bars. And don't have to many apps open - I run Outlook, Firefox, Word, Acrobat Pro X, Activity Monitor, TextEdit and a few other 'small' apps to get good battery power. Don't use Photoshop, etc., while under battery power.
Hope this helps - you should be able to get at least 7 hours.

the only thing i have open is my facebook and skype but if i plug it off the cord the battery goes to 100% to 97% in like a minute then it goes to 94% and drains fast like about in 2 hours or if skype is running it goes less than 2 hours. i did the reset and it doesnt do any good.. still draining fast. but thanks for the advice about screen brightness i adjusted it already im pretty sure its not the cause though but i know it will help. thank you
It will help - are you using video on Skype? If so, that's also a battery drainer. Any video is (even Flash videos on YouTube). Try - if you want to get your maximum battery life - to only use Skype video when you're hard-wired to the mains.

yes it seem like it is a drainer but it should not drain the battery in just 2 or 3 hours right? atleast 5 maybe or so because thats the only major thing i use since my husband is always deployed and all i have no other thing than safari and skype open. or is it really the skype? thank you
I'm assuming it's Skype - anything that uses the FaceTime camera will drag a battery quickly. I'd only Skype with your husband when you're hardwired with the adapter or just learn to live with the low battery life when you're using Skype. Just to sabe some extra minutes, be sure and turn down the brightness of your backlit keyboard, too, if it's on. I keep mine on one bar when I'm outside at night - plenty of illumination.

Playing Games waste battery usage fast or using it every second.
i dont really play games just skype but yes maybe because i use it more
I don't think that she's playing any games - primarily using Skype to talk to her husband who is overseas. The FaceTime camera can gobble up battery time very quickly. I suspect that's where the majority of the problem lies.

as i check my activity monitor cpu% my skype consumes 30 to 35% is that a big number i am not techy or so i just use this because i was advice that macbook pro is durable
30-35% isn't horrible, but it is a lot. I don't have any processes running now over 6.8%. That's where your battery life is going, though. If you run plugged into mains, it's no problem. If you're on battery, you're just going to get 3 hours or so, more than likely. But that's not going to hurt a thing - you're MacBook Pro is durable. I had my first one for 6 years and only bought the second because I needed to run Lion.

omg is this normal? i have my Macbook Pro on plug the whole time i am using it its new and have been using it for like a wekk or so and now its battery says its just 99% it wont go up to 100% on the past days is it broke???
it's not broken....
once your macbook hits 100%, the charger automatically shuts off to avoid overcharging your battery.
once it gets down to 95%, it'll charge it back up.
as to your skype issue, on activity monitor, highlight it and hit quit process. wait a couple of minutes and restart skype again.
I had the same issue as you did. had to do it that way when running on batteries.
Hello, My battery has not been good recently 😟 but just recently I found a Process List of all the programs running. To open it go to where the battery percentage is and if it says an app is using significant power click on it. Then while in the list kill the program (mine was mackeeper helper) now my battery life has gone up by and hour!!!
