How to clean the surface of my mac book pro?

Howdy. I have a retina mac book pro (I think model doesn't matter). My question is how to clean the surface when it gets dirty. Like to use what kind of cloth and maybe some special cleaners and etc. Someone if you are experienced could you please answer me?

Thanks in advance!

  • Special MicroFiberTM cloth gently polishes your display without scratching it.
  • Contains a special polymer to protect your display, while reducing static electricity that attracts dust.
  • Liquid gel will not drip into delicate electronics.
  • Alcohol-free, ammonia-free formula removes dust, dirt, and fingerprints without damaging your display’s protective coating.

Monster iClean Screen Cleaner

I've been using the iKlear products for years. That used to be the only brand that Apple recommended. I have a whole little 'cleaning ditty bag' and I use the products once a week to clean both screen and body. They work like a champ. I got my 'deluxe kit' from Amazon - available here.

Best products in the world for keeping Mac's clean.

That's just my opinion, of course, but I've been using them for over 20 years. Will also work with Kindles, iPads, iPhones, other computers, etc. But they're made for Apple products.

Normally I would agree with Clinton. iKlear is a very good product. But I tried using it to clean fingerprints off my new MacBook Pro Retina screen and it left a smeary mess.

Is the MBP Retina screens like the iPad screens in that you are only supposed to use a microfiber cloth?

If so, apple should really put a peel off sticker on both products to warn you.

Hi I use a drop of methylated spirits in a saucer of warm water, and then use my wife's round make up remover cotton pads to clean the screen. Squueze excess water from the pad and then clean the screen, use 1 or 2 clean new cotton pads to wipe off any residue - dont worry if you leave a few smears they will dissapear once the water has evaporated. The metho seems to promote drying and evaporation.

I use the same method for window cleaning and shinny floor tiles - just put a squirt in a bucket and mop tiles. For widows use a cloth soaked in the mixture and then squeeze the cloth to remove excess water, clean the windows, get a car window wiper and remove residue and then use a leather cloth/micro fibre cloth to remove the last drops from the corners.

hey presto shinny clear windows, screens and floors for a few cents!
