Charging iPhone 4 overnight on iHome P90

Yes, it can. Charging your iPhone overnight isn't a good idea. Infact, don't charge any of your electronic devices overnight. It's damages the battery itself which will give your iPod a very short battery life. My friend's sister charges her Macbook overnight and now she has to keep her charger plugged in every second. If she unplugs the charger, the Macbook shuts off immediately - I think it's because the battery overloads causing the battery to damage and break. Trust me, don't do it. 🙂

Ignore Claudis's reply, which is complete nonsense. You can charge your phone anytime, and for as long as you like. It is impossible for it to be overcharged.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. What Claudia said was actually very correct. This happened to me, I used to charge my iPhone overnight everytime it runs out of battery, and one day, it wouldn't turn on anymore. I had to keep the charger connected in order to stop it from shutting off. What YOU said was completely nonsense. Next time, give people advice only if you know it's right, you're giving wrong advice to someone here.

Nonsense. You may have an issue with your battery, but it is NOT from charging overnight.

Yes, it is. I already went to the Apple store and they TOLD ME it was because of charging it overnight.

I have an iPhone 4 that has been charged overnight every night for about 2 years and the battery is still working fine.

I need to add to my above post that it was ans still is being charged overnight using an IHome clock.

You are getting absolute nonsense advice from a couple of people in this thread. As has been stated correctly, there is no harm in charging the phone overnight. I have done it every night for the past 5 years with 3 different iPhones. The iPhone has a smart charging circuit that stops charging when the battery reaches full charge. There is also no harm in charging while the phone is partially charged and not charging fully. You SHOULD run the battery all the way down, then charge to 100% every month or two, but this is to recalibrate the battery gauge.

There is also no harm in charging with any device that is certified to be compatible with the iPhone.
