why not back it up to an external usb hd .

Do you mean iCloud, or the cloud, if you mean iCloud you can't, but you can use any cloud storage you like (Dropbox, SugarSync etc) and backup to that.
OK. I will. Thanks.
That's where I was confused. iCloud is not the Cloud. I was thinking of iCloud as another form of iDisk. I use DropBox so I'm ok. Thanks so much.
Provided you have Lion, and icloud set up on your computer, and an external hd connected to your router you can use "back to my mac" and be able to access the files from any where you have an internet connection. DropBox is very good also (like Csound1 suggested.)
SuzieStitcher, maybe you can help me. When I try to Back Up Quicken Essentials (on my 2102 iMac, Mountain Lion) to Dropbox, the file saves fine in the Dropbox folder on my computer, but when I access Dropbox.com, there is a useless Packages folder there instead of a file. Any ideas?
I believe (it's been a while) that the .pkg file if clicked will expand and reveal the backups, try it.
I don't see .pkg file in there.
Then what are you calling a packages folder? what does it contain?
Post a screenshot.

What is the file extension in the folder on your Mac?
Your post is empty.
I dragged a screen shot in here and also copied and pasted but I guess I don't really know how to do that. Anyway, the folder contains what the file consists of, the bits and pieces, but not the file itself.
Use the camera icon in the header for your post to insert the picture.
My other question?
What is the file's extension (in the folder on your Mac?)
Is it a .dmg?
I can't find a file extension.I know for Q2007 it was ".qdfm", but all it says here is "name.quickenbackup"
