I am planning to buy an ipad2. To help me determine whether I should get 16 or 32 Gb. I need to know how many gb are already occupied (by the ios, etc) when the ipad arrives.
Around 2 GBytes are already occupied.

At this point Apple only sells a new 16 GB iPad 2. If you want a larger capacity new iPad 2 you will need to find it from another source. Yes, a new iPad has about 2 GB of the operating system and bundled Apple iOS apps installed.

I have a 16 and I have 4 movies, dozen books or so, hundreds of documents and a couple of albums and I flirt with 1-3 gig free. whenever I replace it, I'll go for a 32 simply because I have a 32 gig iPod Touch that has 7 gig free and I have, obviously tons more videos/movies and music on it.
go for as big as you can afford.
You can get by with a 16 but you will find a 32 gives you more room
