Join the crowd. If you read the questions you'll find this same question/problem as yours going all the way back to a couple of weeks - ever since the first update notice appeared on ITunes. There have been all kinds of solutions, answers to solve this. Some work, some don't. Most of us are just doing nothing right now and staying with the current Itunes. Problem seems to be with the Apple Software Updater. It does not show the new update listed when you open it up. Keep checking this site. There are very knowledgeable people answering this question and I'm sure eventually they'll see yours & try to help you out. But you are not alone, apparently there are "oodles" of us out there with the same problem. I've already decided I'm not buying any more Apple products. Don't like having to rely on their ITunes for their products to work (Ipod, IPad, IPhone, etc.). Microsoft is coming out with new tablet and so is Google with a 7" called Nexus 7 which is getting very good reviews. No more Apple for me.

Having similar problems on Windows Vista Home Premium:

Apple Software Update has the ledgend "New Software is available from Apple", but the boxes below are empty and buttons are grayed out. When I start it manually is no longer shows the "Checking for new software" pop-up bar.

Manually removing Apple programs (unwanted stuff like Safari) makes no difference, these are not re-listed as avable for download in the new software section.

Manually going to the Apple site, downloading and re-installing iTunes makes no difference.

Slowly having to admit 10.6.x is bad news; worst appears to be that there are severial reports that removing it and re-installing just makes matters worse!

Having continuing problems updating release 10.6.3.25 to my PC (Windows XP) - software downloads ok, then starts to install...about 1/2 way through it gives an error regarding the path to the installer folder (.msi file) and asks for an alternate path. When I go to the original update folder, the .msi installer file is located at the original address. I'm confused and can't get past this.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a known fix?

Just want to update the problem everybody is having downloading the new update. If you waited, and didn't try to reinstall or anything, it looks like a "fix" is coming to you. My previous ITunes was working fine so I decided to just wait it out and see if Apple would fix it. Knew it wasn't my computer because of all the same questions in this forum. And I want to let all to know that when I signed on to my computer today an Apple Software Update window popped up on my desktop. (Not the little one we've all been clicking on from the ITunes screen.). This came up right on my desktop. I clicked on it to download and it worked like a charm. After it was done downloading I pulled up ITunes and all looked great, all my purchases, songs were still there. I then plugged in my IPod and then my IPad and they both synced, etc., ....all is well again! So it you didn't try to re-install or anything, and have just been waiting and using your current version of ITunes, be patient. Looks like the fix will be coming to you, too.
