My homebutton on my ipad 2 doesn't work anymore, someone else had same problem, can somebody help me solve this issue?

I'd suggest taking your device to your local apple store and have them take a look at it.
This does happen now and then; get the Home button repaired (swapped).
My home button didnt work well recently, and about a week ago it died totally.
Just a while ago, I thought dust in the charging slot right behind Home button may cause this problem. So I blew the rectangle slot of the iPad with my mouth several times, really hard!!! And .... Miracle happened, it all went well.
DUSTS CAUSE THIS PROBLEM IN MY CASE!!!

The button didn't work recently which indicates my way of blowing doesn't work long.

Regarding my year old iPad 2, I tried all manner of recommended solutions to resolve this recent issue without success. So, I scheduled an appointment at a Genius Bar in Maryland, next Tuesday. The iPad is still under warranty.
In anticipation of this visit, I went into settings > mail, contacts, calendars. There I deactivated gmail, the only active account there, apart from cloud which was already in active. To my utter surprise, the home button was working again -- perfectly!
I'm going ask the Genius I meet on Tuesday for an explanation.
I got my old iphone replaced with a brand new one, It's no use to solve the problem yourself, I would advice you to go to your local store and let them replace your ipad to a new one
How does one know if a replacement is new or refurbished? I've got one more on my warranty, at any rate.

Wow - my screen cracked after a two foot fall within an Logitech Ultra Thin Bluetooth Keyboard which has an identical aluminum exterior to what the iPad has - fell on shag carpet, flat and my screen craked in two curvy lines all acroso from right to left. Apple told me $250 or get lost....hopefully some Apple people are nice.
Can't you check the serial number? My ipad was completely new, if the ipad is still under warranty usaually the stores doesn't repair the ipads, that's what I've heard
From now on I try not to use the homebutton so often, instead I use the five fingers trick!
