In trying to figure out why my 100GB PowerBook has only 53GB left after I produced movies of my kids activities, I was reminded that occasionally computers save copies of files in Temp folders in case you need to recover them later. I know that all of my videos have been burned to DVDs and then removed from the computer so they shouldn't be on the computer in either iMovie or iDVD. And I did check just about everywhere else to make sure. But I cannot find where Temp files would be located so I can make sure that may be what is taking up so much space on my computer. Have tried looking through the hard drive for Temp files, and even used Spotlight but no luck and my wife packed up my books as we are preparing to move to a larger house. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Your temp files will likely be hidden from normal finder/spotlight searches. My files show up in the trash ("Recovered Files") after restarting my machine. These files can be quite large. (For example, I edited three long audio files and the temp files created by the editor were in the trash. Total size of files was ~10GB).
