Iphone is not charging anymore

Hi, my iphone 4 was working fine a couple of days ago, but suddenly i plugged the device to my laptop and after a while i realized it wasnt charging anymore, i have tested on a lot of computers, wall charger, but i got the same issue, even on a mac but no luck.

So finally i turned off and after a while i realized the phone was fully charged, at least i found a temporary solution to this problem but its really anoying to switch off to charge the phone, if you solve this problem please let me know.

I believe it should be a software issue, because the phone actullay charges when its off.

I will be really glad if some apple employee answer me about this problem, i would like to know if ios6 comes out with a solution to this issue maybe by a simple firmware upgrade??

Did you try different cable!?

It happens that the lose cables jus gets the connectivity done between the computer, and it fails to charge the phone!

Borrow a cable from your friend and check it whether the iPhone charges or not!

Probably the damaged cable might be the issue!

different cables, different computers, different wall chargers but no luck, the phone actually charges but only when is switched off.

Did you try "Reset All Settings"

Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings

If not, then try restoring the phone.

If it still doesn't solve the problem, get it checked from the Apple Store 🙂

yeah, i tried to restore the phone but since the device is not recognized by itunes im not able to do that, thanks anyway

Get it checked from the Apple Store. Maybe the dock connector might be damaged 🙂

This happened to me just now. On my iphone i went to settings - general - reset - reset all settings

Make sure its backed up on icloud before you do it, then it can put everything back onto your phone the way it was as soon as you've restored it.

My phone wouldnt charge or sync anywhere just like you described and now it works fine again!

If itunes doesn't recognize the ipod while on, try booting your iphone in DFU mode, or recovery mode, whichever is easier for you. Since those two don't use the installed iOS, but rather the iphones preinstalled software, sort of like a PCs bios, they should be recognized by itunes, then you could reinstall your iOS.

To enter DFU plug your iphone into the computer, hold the sleep for 5 seconds, while still holding sleep hold the home button for another 10 seconds, the phone should turn off, after the 10 seconds let go of the sleep button, STILL HOLDING HOME for another 20 - 25 seconds. The iphone should be recognized by itunes, and the screen should stay black.

To enter recovery leave your iphone unplugged and force turn off your iphone by holding the home and sleep for 10 seconds, then hold home to turn it on, and while holding home quikly plug in your iphone, that should display the iPhone -> itunes image on your screen, and it should be recognized by itunes.

After either of those reinstall your iOS as usual, if you get any itunes errors, simply try again.

hey man, thx for your help, i dunno what happen but my iphone wont turn on DFU mode, i tried the recovery moded but it stills is not recognizedby itunes, when i try to enter on DFU mode the screen goes black in the middle of the process but itunes doesnt do anything, after no success on the process y opened the redsnow software just to play a lil bit with it, the weird thing is the software shows this message:

But i switch to itunes and i get the following message:

Translating it to English it says: "Connect this IPhone with the USB cable to update or restore the software"

So.. i have no idea what is happening with the charging thing, i tested this on a mac, tried it on PC's also but same results.

Im actually currently working my iphone through the same problem, mine being a slight bit worse because I'm quite stupid when it comes to experimenting with my apple products. But to help you, I'd say attempt to use redsnow to put your phone into a Pwned Dfu Mode, then once there try to use the program Tiny Umbrella to kick your iPhone into recovery mode. I'm sure once your in the Tiny Umbrella's placed recovery mode itunes should recognize it and you could restore. Try that and get back to me with the info and we'll work from there.

If your phone stop taking charge, try replacing the battery. If you still in warranty then make an appointment with the Genius bar or pay a fee for a replacement battery
