How can I op out of the automatic downloading of all my MobileMe albums, since I already have all those photos and videos in my primary computer? This would save me a huge amount of bandwidth which with my plan is a puny amount.

Close iPhoto and log in to your MMe account online. Go to the galley section, select and delete the galleries from there. That should avoid iPhoto's downloading them.
