I'm with Niel on this one. MPEG Streamclip is free, very versatile and quite powerful for your conversion needs. Maybe Handbrake, although I have always found it a bit slow compared to MPEG Streamclip.

I believe that iSky is one of the best conversion apps there is. I use Handbrake along with it , and I never have any issues. I agree that it takes a while longer, but that doesn't bother me.You may consider a Free version of video converter. You can download from here: http://www.video-converter-mac.org/video-converter-for-mac/

In fact, HandBrake doesn't support MOV as the output format. Except for this shortcoming, HandBrake is a great way to convert videos.

I used to use a little piece of program to convert AVI files to MOV on mac, happy with it.

You do realise this thread has been idle for two years?
