Q: Itunes connection issue

itunes on the laptop won't connect to store. unable to log in. account works fine on ipod and desktop. uninstalled and reloaded itunes twice. turned off all security and opened itunes in safe mode. Couldn't see where preferences were stored to see if that was an issue. No add ons being used, ever. At a loss as to what might the problem be. Any suggestions out there please? Has worked fine previously but admittedly not used often until ipod purchase recently. CPU on task manager monitor hits max 100pc and memory hits 50pc, whole laptop slows right down.

    Close your iTunes,

    Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    netsh winsock reset

    Hit "ENTER" key

    Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes and see if the problem has been resolved.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Thanks wiclee for taking the time to reply. Tried your suggestion. Itunes still hangs trying to connect on the laptop. I looked at the link previously and downloaded the autorun program. There is netintelligence showing up and something else which looked like system stuff though can't be certain of that. Netintelligence and itunes have been compatible on the laptop for sometime so if something's gone wrong it'll be itunes that haven't taken into account a possible conflict with Netintelli and if there is a conflict with netintelli then I doubt I'd be the only one. Netintelli is turned off or at minimal settings on here anyway.

Yes, Netintelligence is culprit.  You will have to uninstall it to get iTunes to work.

Easy to say but the reason is? It has worked fine together for some time, nothing has changed within netintelligence as I stated it's effectively not doing anything for me but protects my daughters internet activity. so what has changed with itunes to cause an issue and why aren't there lots of others with the issue?
