Can someone help me all of my playlist are missing and I am afraid to connect my ipod for fear that I may lose those as well. My ipod has not been affected.

You may be right about losing the PLs if you sync.
The next easiest fix I know is to restore them from your latest laptop backup that has the playlists.
If you need other ideas, tell us which Mac laptop, Mac OS X version, and iTunes version you use when you post back.
I went to my itunes on my laptop and all of my playlist are gone. My ipod is not affected yet. What can I do?
